  • Payments and Cancellation Policy
PAYMENTS Your appointment fees are payable at the time of making an appointment. Accepted forms of payment include credit/debit card and Paypal. HeartCare Psychology uses Halaxy for payment services. Halaxy is compliant with the Australian standards for online security and encryption. CANCELLATION AND NON-ATTENDANCE HeartCare Psychology understands that it is not always possible to keep an appointment (for various reasons). In the event that you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment, we kindly request that you provide us with a minimum of two (2) days' advance notice. This will enable us to offer the appointment to another client who is in urgent need of psychological assistance. A cancellation fee equivalent to 100% of the session cost will be charged if you cancel after 9am, two (2) days prior to your scheduled appointment, or if you fail to arrive for a session. The booking fee for your appointment will be kept as compensation for a late notice cancellation. For any cancellations that are not rescheduled and result in a refund being deposited into your bank account, a cancellation fee of $4.52 will be charged. This fee covers the cost of payment processing. Telehealth sessions are available as an alternative should you feel too unwell to attend in person.
  • Private Health Insurance
Depending on your cover, you may be eligible to claim a percentage of your session fee from your private health insurer. Please check with your insurer for more details about your level of cover and number of claimable sessions. HeartCare Psychology does not process private health insurance rebates; however, you are able to make your own private health insurance claims. Please note. For each session, you are able to claim either your private health insurance or the Medicare rebate (you cannot claim both rebates for the same session).
  • What you can expect from your first session.
In the first session, Kate will spend time getting to know you and learn about the challenges you are currently facing. You will be able to talk with Kate about your goals for therapy. Kate will also formulate a plan with you about how you can work together in future sessions.
  • Medicare and Mental Health Treatment Plans
If you live in Australia, you are able to be referred by your GP to see a psychologist. A Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) is the document that is completed during the consultation with your doctor. Initially, your doctor will approve 6 psychology sessions. An additional 4 sessions can be provided (after you see your GP for a review). In total, you are able to access 10 Medicare sessions each year. The Medicare rebate is currently $93.35 (for a 50 minute session). Once payment has been made and you have attended your session, you will receive the rebate directly into your bank account within 24-48 hours. You do not need a referral from your GP to access psychology services. A referral from your GP is helpful if you are wanting to claim a rebate from Medicare. Alternatively, you can use private health insurance to claim a percentage of the session fee.
